Graphical User Interface: The Graphical User Interface (GUI) provides the link between the RSV and the operator.
The innovative use of PC-based software architecture via the onboard computer/s equips the RSV with an easy to use control system that reduces the time and costs needed for application, development and operator training. The GUI allows video feedback from the RSV to be displayed on-screen alongside the control functions. These include the ability to turn the vehicle on and off allowing the drive systems to reset if there is a fault, plus the selection of camera angles from the GUI, giving the operator a maximum field of view around the vehicle. In addition the GUI provides:
- the ability to determine which direction the vehicle is facing, assisting the operator with rough positioning and orientation for visual logging of data
- directional feedback from the vehicle's drive system, showing whether the tracks and drive train are functioning as normal.
- external and internal thermometers, allowing the operator to see if the machine's computer is overheating or if the external climate is out of the ordinary
- switches allowing auxiliary equipment such as lights and cameras to be controlled
